People in their early twenties still refer to people older than them as “adults”. When do you think they stop… and realize… they are adults
I’m not an adult, I’m a child with a drinking permit.
What is the Multiverse, and why do we think it exists?
[…] Our observable Universe caps out at about 92 billion light-years in diameter, less than a thousand times as large in all directions as our previous scale. It contains some 10^80 atoms, clumped together in maybe a trillion galaxies, each with typically hundreds of billions of stars. But one of the most remarkable things about the Big Bang is that all of this, some 13.8 billion years ago, was once contained in a very small region of space, a region much smaller than our Solar System is today!
The thing that you might immediately wonder is whether there’s more Universe beyond the part that’s observable to us today, and — if so — how far does it go on? And what does it look like? And what are the physical laws in that part of the Universe?
Based on our observations of everything we’ve been able to see, from stars to galaxies to the leftover glow from the Big Bang to the matter in intergalactic space, we can learn some amazing things.
Some motivation from the doctor.
I definitely needed this right now!
I was actually doing homework, love this!
Swords in Gaming - Dishonored - Corvo’s Folding Blade
- Measurements: 29.726 w x 2.5 d x 8.92 h (cm) / 11.703 w x 0.984 d x 3.512 h (inches)
Corvo Attano is the protagonist of Dishonored. Previously an agent and bodyguard to Empress Jessamine Kaldwin, Corvo is stripped of his title of Lord Protector and imprisoned by the usurper, Royal Spymaster Hiram Burrows, on the pretense of having murdered the Empress and abducted her daughter, Emily Kaldwin.
After escaping from confinement on the eve of his execution, Corvo becomes an assassin for the Loyalist Conspiracy, eliminating Burrows’ confederates to clear his name, avenge the Empress’ death, and restore Emily to the throne.
Corvo’s Folding Blade is the primary right-hand weapon for most of Dishonored. Its mechanism is resilient and efficient for both stealthy assassinations and open melee combat. This utility combined with its dense metal makes it perfect for defensive maneuvers. It can be upgraded by Piero Joplin for 600 coins, to be more effective at “locking blades” and pushing away enemies.
Corvo’s folding blade has a unique design, even for Dishonored’s art style. It is telescopic, meaning that each of its three sections are housed inside of each other—with a simple squeeze of the handle, the cross-guard opens, and the middle section of the blade shoots out, the point unfolding from within it. At present, the actual mechanics of the sword are unknown.
It is theorised that a trigger on the front of the handle is pressed inward toward the palm, activating a double-action switch, which causes an internal spring to pull the middle section of the blade out the top of the handle, locking it in place. The final section extends from the middle in much the same fashion. Upon pressing the trigger again, the switch resets, unlocking the blade and pulling the two sections back inside the handle, allowing the blade to be easily stored and concealed.
Some say that the sword functions like a butterfly knife - on a swivel allowing the blade to swing free, but Corvo’s sword, the blade seems to shoot out vertically like a spring or something after the handles open slightly.
During the gameplay, the player’s sword will develop “chips and cracks”; there are actually part of the upgraded sword’s aesthetic, like some residue used to improve the blade’s metal. The blade of Corvo’s sword will take on an appearance indicative of mineral ore in the amalgamation of the blade’s metal if the sword-crossing upgrade is purchased.
Corvo normally slashes with his blade when he does not perform a counter or assassination maneuver. There are four slash animations when Corvo is standing, but only one reverse grip attack while he is crouching. Also, each assassination target has a unique death animation when approached and killed from the front.
Funnily enough the main character is named after a bladed weapon. The corvo is a bladed weapon typically used in Chile. It is a double-edged knife with a curved blade of approximately 12 inches. Initially a tool similar to a grape hook, it was widely used in combat during the War of the Pacific. It was not standard issue, but rather a personal weapon or tool that the soldiers brought with them from home.
